Inequalities are everywhere; racial ethnic, gender, LGBTQ+, disabilities, and economic are just some areas to be addressed. Poor diversity and inclusion has an economic cost; harnessing diversity and inclusion could have boosted US GDP by $70 trillion since 1990.  Doing good is doing well, diversity means boosting returns, sales, and lower earnings volatility risk. In recent years, jurisdictions across the country have prioritized racial equity and developed policies to advance equity in budgeting, including Montgomery County, Maryland and Baltimore City, Maryland. The panelists will share their experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating policies, programs, and budget issues to achieve racial equity and social justice. (1 CPE)

Professor Morici will review the potential economic impact of the American Rescue Plan and additional fiscal stimulus and examine the state of the national and state economies and the prospects for continued economic growth and recovery. (1 CPE)

Internal investigations are important for the health of any organization.  Transparency demands detailed investigations and ultimately interviewing individuals in compliance with established policies, procedures and ethical practices.  Do you know when to offer Garrity warnings?  How will they affect the quality of your interviews and complicate prosecutions?  Good to know the basics and where to go from here. American Rescue Plan Act Compliance Update

The American Rescue Plan Act was signed into law on March 11, 2021, bringing state and local governments another round of federal stimulus funding.  This session will provide up-to-date guidance on what state and local governments can use the stimulus funds for and what they can expect when preparing their annual ACFRs and single audits.
